About Gabriel Nieto

Gabriel “Gloso” Nieto b.1990 was born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, where his passion for art was sparked early on by his grandfather, a key mentor and creative influence. As a teenager, he honed his skills at the University of Puerto Rico in Río Piedras and the Escuela de Artes Plásticas in Old San Juan.

Gloso’s practice centers on large-scale painting with roots in graffiti and street art. In 2013, he became part of the acclaimed Santurce es Ley urban art movement in Santurce Puerto Rico. Since 2015, he has also worked as a lead painter with Colossal Media, the world’s foremost company for hand-painted outdoor advertising.

In 2019, he undertook an ambitious solo project, creating a drawing every day for a year, a testament to his dedication and drive for growth. His work has been featured in group shows across Puerto Rico and New York, including the 2023 edition of Superfine Art Fair. Most recently, he exhibited new pieces at Instituto de Subcultura in Santurce, returning to the neighborhood where his journey began.

Now based in Barcelona, Gloso continues to evolve his multidisciplinary practice, merging fine art, street culture, and personal mythology into bold, symbolic works that explore the human form, nature, and the subconscious.
